200 Children Follow the Mini Children's Conference on Biodiversity in Junior High School Cafeteria 26 Float

Surabaya-One by one new location nuanced environment mapped by participants Mini Children's Conference On Biodiversity in SMP Negeri 26 Surabaya, Friday (12/11). Mapping the new location is part of the session map of West Surabaya Environment that was held at the mini conference. Among the successfully mapped locations such as urban forest in the gap Ears, friendly school environment SDN SDN Kandangan Kandangan I and III. There is also land that can be easily observed birds.
At this conference there are four themes of discussion, namely the map of the environment, biodiversity around, keanakeragaman threat of biological and water quality monitoring. The conference, held SMP Negeri 26 Surabaya with Tunas Hijau was attended by 200 students from several elementary and secondary schools in the area of West Surabaya. The schools that are Balongsari SDN I, SDN Kandangan I, Lor Tandes SDN, SDN Banjar Sugihan I, SDN Banjar Sugihan II, III Sugihan SDN Banjar, Sememi SDN I, SDN Tripe Pimple I, SDN Manukan Kulon, SDN Manukan Wetan I and SD Khadija 3. While the SMP is SMP 14, SMP 20, SMP 25, SMP 26 and SMP 47.
On the Water Monitoring group, participants are given an explanation by a senior activist of Tunas Hijau Bram Azzaino about the importance of keeping the water around us. Water does not only belong to humans but it belongs to all living beings, because humans are part of the biodiversity that exists on earth. "Then how we should be able to keep it?" Said Bram Azzaino. "Well, before you answer, let's see the quality of water is all around us, so we know later what to do," said Bram Azzaino.
Water quality seen from some of the parameters measured, ie, turbidity, pH, or acidity, dissolved oxygen (DO) and water temperature. Further described by Bram Azzaino, that most living things can only survive with a pH range of 6.5 to 8. When the pH of the environment outside the range, there are only two choices for living things, that is moved to the area with the condition that sesusai or die on the spot. With a case of pollution of water bodies, may be easy for the water fauna to move to a better place by following the flow of water. But it is not possible for flora because they do not have legs or fins to move anywhere.
Gaiety conference participants and students SMPN 26 Surabaya who became the facilitator looks when they began researching pond water samples under the floating canteen SMP 26 Surabaya, which became the site of a conference. Especially when they are rummaging through the mud of ponds and receiving using a magnifying glass petri dish and / magnifying glass to find various types of small animals (benthic) as indicators of water quality.
In the afternoon session, there are few obstacles confronting nature of the participants to carry out such observations in the morning session. But do not lower the intention of the participants to make observations of biodiversity around the floating canteen where they were before. In this place the participants observe anything in sight. Hamzen, students of SMP Negeri 14 Surabaya, like a ship captain observing the contents of the affected pool raindrops. Do not miss small animals such as mosquitoes and spiders since they observe in this place there are very many wild plant yng allows many small animals live.
The rain is coming so swift could result in the activity be stopped, because the conditions are not possible. Narendra, one activist from Tunas Hijau, replace the observations into a game. Not far away from material that is deepening, this time the participants are invited to play on the movements of biodiversity, especially animals. The game that invites laughter and accuracy in practice seasli movement may cause many residents who took part witnessed canteen.
In another corner, seen 24 students participants Mini Children's Conference on Biodiversity (MCCB), group 3 was assembled in front of the gate SMPN 26 Surabaya. They are preparing a worksheet provided by the facilitators of the environment of SMP Negeri 26 Surabaya, which is actually a student environmental team Junior High School 26. "Please make observations and do not forget to write the observation in the table has been provided," said Dinda. 45 minutes is the length of time given for this observation.
Melinda Alma, MCCB participants revealed that the species that dominate in this school are butterflies, bees and grasshoppers. "But the butterfly is not easy to find as many bees here," added Alma Melinda. Despite the scorching heat felt in the skin, the spirit of participants remains high MCCB. Hasbi, elementary students Khatidjah 3 Surabaya, expressed himself very pleased to follow this conference due to get new knowledge. Hasbi also claimed to be increasingly concerned about the environment.
Towards the end of the meeting, participants MCCB is committed to saving biodiversity for the future. "One way to increase the planting of trees," said Nyimas Salsabila, students of SMP Negeri 26 Surabaya, which in October 2010 to represent Indonesia at the International Children's Conference on Biodiversity. At the end of the session, students SDN Kandangan I Akmal Melinda and SMPN 14 Surabaya latitude crowned the best participant in the group of biodiversity around.
In the group of threats to biodiversity begins cause the extinction of biodiversity. Among the threats raised by the participants of this group is a clogged garbage in the river causing water pollution to loss of biodiversity in the stream. Air pollution is also one threat to biodiversity. "Forest fires and the shift of forest functions into one is also a threat to biodiversity decline," said activist Anggriyan Permana Tunas Hijau group members repeat the opinion.
After discussion, all participants of the group conducted a survey of biodiversity threat to the people who live around the school. The survey was to study the behavior of people who have an impact on decreasing the level of biodiversity. Among the questions presented is a habit of throwing garbage around the community, feedback about the condition of the river in the vicinity of, cause the dirty river about and solutions for environmental improvement.
